Karen is a graduate sports scientist and HPC registered Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience working in sport, exercise and rehabilitation. Since 2004 Karen has been a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy within the Department of Health and Human Sciences at London Metropolitan University. Previously Karen coordinated the sports medicine program for UK Sport and for the Great Britain Cycling World Class Performance Plan.
Karen has an active interest in articular cartilage repair and she has published and presented on this topic to UK and international audiences.
In 2006 Karen was the lead author of the first published current concepts paper on rehabilitation following autologous chondrocyte implantation of the knee. In 2007 Karen was on the expert panel for the Trauma and Orthopaedics Specialist Library of the National Library of Health for the National Knowledge Week on Osteoarthritis. Karen is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on health related cognitions of patients undergoing articular cartilage repair of the knee.
